Name: International Monument to the Miner
Description: It is a urban bronze sculpture located in the Peace Square in Vega de Arriba neighbourhood, in front of the university campus. It is devoted to the 14 miners who did in Nicolasa Shaft in August 1995, and it was unveiled on 4th December 1996 during the festivity of Santa Bárbara, patron of the miners. The work represents a bare-chested with a flame inside which is always alight. Its author is Miguel Ángel Lombardía, an Asturian sculptor and painter from Sama de Langreo
