Basic details

Name: Palacio de Arriba (Palacio de los Bernardo Miranda)
Description: It dates from 1775. It is a rural palace complex which consists of a 'casona' (stately manor) and a chapel. The 'casona' has a rectangular floor, a portal, two doors (one in an arch and the other in lintel), five elongated balconies in the second floor and an attic whose two dormer windows are visible from the outside. It uses masonry and ashlar in openings and corners. The chapel is in front of the 'casona' and in a rural style. It doesn't have a portico. It has got in a side a round tower with a conical cover which functions as a dovecot. In a side window, there is an inscription: "Hizo esta obra Juan Díaz de Miranda año de 1755" ('Juan Díaz Miranda made this work in 1755'). It has got a curious sundial over the entrance with an engraved date: 1808. In the inside, it preserves the grids on the floor of a living chess. It is in Baroque style and austere.
