Basic details Name: Protected Landscapen of Sierra del Aramo Mountain Range
Description: Earth and water, these are the elements we must talk about when we refer to the mountain range called Sierra del Aramo. The tradition tells that rivers and bears gave its name to Riosa. The Aramo Protected Landscape is spread along 15 kilometres heading NW-SE, between the rivers Trubia and Riosa. The Mountain Range covers 50 square kilometres, of which 17 km belong to Riosa. It is located in the central area of Asturias, 20 km from Oviedo, and it divides the councils Quirós (W), Riosa and Morcín (E). It is the main elevation of the central-eastern northern sector with its summits line above 1700 metres: Picu Gamonal 1712 m, Picu Mancueva 1718 m, Picu Barriscal 1734 m, Picu Xistra 1775 m, and the highest one, the Gamoniteiro, with 1788 m. Four valleys are formed: Piedrafita, La Juncar, Grandiella and Llamo.
