Basic details

Name: Natural Park Las Ubiñas-La Mesa. Biosphere Reserve
Description: NEW BIOSPHERE RESERVE IN ASTURIAS.
It is a natural space of special protection that covers the Asturian councils Lena, Quirós and Teverga. The access to the park is excellent since Lena is the entrance and exit door that conneccts the Asturian region with the the plateau of Castile through the roads A-66 and N-630.
It has a typical mountian relief with great contrasts in which summits like Peña Ubiña (2.417m.), Cellón (2.029m.) or Tres Conceyos (2.020m.) stand. These summits crown deep green valleys like Güerna or Payares ones.
The park is a natural enclave that is well preserved and has got great environmental values. Trees like the beech, the oak, the birch, the holly or the yew tree are used as a shelter for bears, grouses, deers, wild boars or roe deers, which are the most representative animal species in the park.
